Description
The Union Pacific Rail Trail starts at 1741 Bonanza Drive, Park City, Utah, but there is no parking lot there. See the Meeting Location for details on where to park. We will meet at the start of the trail and then ride east. Trail soon becomes mostly unpaved until Coalville. Exit trail at Coalville to avoid Goatheads (Tribulus Terrestris) and ride on highway past Echo Reservoir continuing to Henefer, Utah. Climb west up and over on highway 65 to East Canyon Reservoir and continue on highway 65 past East Canyon Resort. Stay left to ride south on unpaved Jeremy Ranch Road continuing to Jeremy Ranch. The first half of the Jeremy Ranch Road is very rough with a lot of loose rocks. Ride under I-80 to the frontage road and continue back into Park City mainly on paved trails. 35.7 miles pavement. 28.4 miles unpaved. Gravel bikes or a very sturdy adventure/road bike recommended. A mountain bike could be ridden if you can stand riding one that far. The unpaved trails are generally maintained and graveled, but is still not close to pavement. Water and food available in Wanship, Coalville, Henefer, East Canyon Resort, and Jeremy Ranch. Expect a long day. The only time I rode it took 6 hours including breaks. Please call me if unsure about this ride.
